Teenage Cancer Trust - Charity Cycle Ride - Friday 25th September, 7pm

Hosted by Static Cycling Studios, Total Orthopaedics (www.totalorthopaedics.london), including most of their specialists and of their partners, will be testing their endurance in a charity cycle ride to raise much needed funds and awareness for Teenage Cancer Trust on Friday 25th September at 7pm.

The charity has launched an urgent fundraising appeal to raise £5 million to maintain its frontline services now at risk due to the Covid-19 Pandemic significantly reducing donations this year.

The bike ride is one of the charity’s many initiatives, with the Total Orthopaedics fundraiser already close to achieving its target of £1,500 (and aiming to exceed it) on its JustGiving page. The event will also be live-streamed through the Total Orthopaedics Facebook page to encourage more donations.

Bringing star quality and energy to the cycling studio is Children’s TV presenter (Channel 5’s Milkshake), Kiera-Nicole Brennan, who also played a lead role in theatre pantomime, Dick Whittington alongside Curtis Pritchard (Dancing with the Stars and ITV’s Love Island). Kiera-Nicole will join the surgeons to push for wider awareness of the campaign and inspire others to create their own charity event for Teenage Cancer. Kiera comments: “What an incredible opportunity to get behind such an important charity. Maintaining these services make such a difference to each patient so it’s inspiring for Total Orthopaedics to organise this initiative”.

It’s a win-win for everyone

All donors will be eligible for prizes. Static Cycling Studios will offer 10 free classes to the top 10% of donors in a sliding scale, with 1 free class offered for the bottom 10% of donors. All donors will also be entered into a prize draw to win a free Total Orthopedics health check from its soon to open Lifestyle Medicine clinic on Queen Anne Street.

Helen Farquharson, Senior Fundraising Manager at Teenage Cancer Trust, said:

“Every day, seven young people in the UK aged 13 to 24 hear the devastating words ‘you have cancer’. Teenage Cancer Trust’s special hospital wards, nurses and youth support teams are there to provide them with the emotional and practical support they need to get them and their families through some unimaginably hard times. But everything our frontline team does is dependent on donations and the COVID-19 outbreak has seen our charity take a huge financial hit. That’s why we’re so thankful to Total Orthopaedics and Static Fit for holding this fantastic high energy event. We hope to see lots of people taking part and thank every single person who chooses to raise money or donates for Teenage Cancer Trust”.

Mr Joyti Saksena, Consultant Hip, Knee & Sports Surgeon at Total Orthopaedics said:

“Most of us in the team have worked with hospital wards where we have seen the incredible work that the Teenage Cancer Trust do for patients. We are humbled by the amazing work of such charities who are fundamental to the patient’s wellbeing, inevitably providing optimum chance for the clinical teams to secure the best treatment outcome. We hope to raise as much awareness of how important their work is for patients and that funds are more vital now than ever”.

The charity cycle will start at 7pm for approximately 45 minutes in Static’s state of the art indoor cycling studio. The event will be held according to government restrictions with bikes adequately spaced to ensure Covid-19 requirements are met.
